Selenite
Selenite is a remarkable mineral and form of gypsum that derives its name from the Greek word for "moon," due to its moon-like glow and luminous appearance. It is a hydrous calcium sulfate mineral and is known for its fibrous crystalline structure, which often appears in translucent or transparent white or colorless formations. The "peach" selenite variety has an inclusion of iron or hematite giving it a warmer orange color.
Selenite is prized for its metaphysical properties and is considered a powerful cleansing and purifying crystal. It is believed to have a high vibrational energy that can clear negative energies, promote mental clarity, and create a calm and peaceful environment. Selenite is often used in spiritual practices and energy work to cleanse and recharge other crystals, as well as to facilitate new connections with them. A common practice is to place selenite in multiple locations around the home to create a protective barrier from external influence or negative energies.
Peach selenite has all the energetic properties of white selenite but it's believed to work closer with the heart chakra, promoting additional healing properties.
Beyond its metaphysical applications, selenite is valued for its aesthetic appeal and is used in various decorative and ornamental purposes. It is relatively soft and can be easily scratched with a fingernail. This also allows it to be shaped in many different ways such as wands, palm stones, towers, and even unicorn horns. Its luminous and delicate appearance makes it a sought-after gem for collectors and jewelry enthusiasts.
Selenite is a cherished mineral that combines beauty, spirituality, and healing properties. Its ethereal glow and energetic qualities have made it a staple in crystal healing and spiritual practices, supporting individuals on their journey towards clarity, serenity, and higher consciousness.
